"The Five Pillars of Islam followed by the six articles of Faith"
First: The five pillars of Islam
Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing be upon him) said: "Islam is built
upon five things: the testimony that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, the establishment of prayer, the payment of Zakâh, the pilgrimage to the House, and the fast during the month of Ramadan." [Sahîh al-Bukhârî and Sahîh Muslim
Meaning that Islam is built upon five pillars. They are
the testimony that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger
[No one or nothing is truly worshipped but Allah, and Prophet Muhammad must be obeyed for whatever he informs us on behalf of Allah]
the establishment of prayer
[To practice the five formal daily prayers without violating their rules, conditions and norms]
the payment of Zakâh: Almsgiving
[Zakâh is due once the Muslim holds a financial amount or property which equals the value of 85 grams of gold for one year. The annual due payment of Zakâh equals 2.5%]
the fast during the month of Ramadan
[which is not to eat , drink or copulate during the daylight hours. i.e. from dawn till sunset with having a previous intention for doing this]
the pilgrimage to the House
[for those who are financially and physically able]
Second: The six articles of Faith
To believe in God
Islam emphasizes that God is The One without partner, The Encompassing of all that exists, and He is unique in every way. Only God, The Most Benevolent, has the right to be worshipped
to believe in His Angles
The angels are creations of God. God, The Originator, created them from light. They are powerful, and always do precisely as they are commanded by God.
to believe in His Books
To believe in the original texts of the books of Torah, Gospel, Pslams and Quraan]
To believe in His prophets and messengers
[Starting from Noah and Ending with the Seal of prophets Muhammad (PBUH)]
to believe in the Day of Judgment
[The day of punishment and reward given according to one deeds in this life]
to believe in divine decree
[hand-in-hand with adopting appropriate reasons, and to be pleased with divine decrees whether they are evil or good, simply because they are made by Allah
Upon the mentioned in Sahîh Muslim
